On July 22nd, Rock Fuel Media in association with Loud & Proud Records will release “TWISTED SISTER: THE SOUND OF THUNDER-A TRIBUTE TO A.J. PERO:METAL MELTDOWN:LIVE FROM THE HARD ROCK CASINO LAS VEGAS”, a DVD/Blu-Ray/CD set documenting the glam metal legends first live performance without long time drummer A.J. Pero who passed away unexpectedly on March 15, 2015.

Captured in Hi-Definition & 5.1 surround sound, director Brian Lockwood captures the bands first concert featuring drummer extraordinaire Mike Portnoy (The Winery Dogs, ex-Dream Theater, ex-Avenged Sevenfold and ex-Adrenaline Mob). Unlike most live concert films which utilize rapid-fire edits and neck breaking angles, this film allows ample time for each shot at normal angles. You almost feel like you are in attendance. All the tunes that made the band a household name in the 1980’s are here but I was most excited by the inclusion of “The Price” and “I Am (I’m Me)” in the set.

After watching the Blu-Ray I couldn’t help but be a little angry with the fact that I have never seen the band in person, ahhhh the joys of living in BFE-Kansas! For a band that has existed for 40 years, they play with a real sense of piss n’ vinegar that most new bands lack or pretend to have. Twisted Sister are a well-oiled Rock N’ Roll machine. Too bad they’ve decided to ride off into the sunset!

In addition to the full concert the package includes the documentary “Rockshow”. It’s an in depth look at the bands career, from staples of the East Coast club scene to the height of their fame as the darlings of MTV. The documentary uses new interviews conducted at The Hard Rock Casino as well as archival footage. All-in-all, for the price of the package, you can’t bitch as you get a live show documenting one of the most legendary Hard Rock bands riding off into the sunset as well as a 90 minute career-spanning documentary chocked full of new interviews with its members. It is a fitting farewell to their fallen brother and the perfect way to memorialize, A.J. Pero!
