Jackyl Chimes In On Falling In Reverse’s Laptop Controversy… Laptop Gate!
On September 24th, Jackyl were set to play in the 4th spot on 95 WiiL’s RockFest from 5 to 6pm after Royal Bliss, Through Fire, and Lilith Czar when they were bumped up to cover Falling In Reverse‘s co-headlining slot prior to Shinedown.
The previous night, Falling In Reverse’s “frontman” Ronnie Radke issued the following statement on his Tik Tok account. How modern of him, was his Snap Chat not working?
His Tik Tok statement is as follows:
“WIIL Rock, I regret to inform you that we have to cancel and we have no other option. I’m sorry. And I never make videos like this, but I feel like I owe it to you guys.
“So we show up to rehearsal. We only planned to rehearse one time. Because we just got off tour, we don’t need to rehearse that much. And we walk into rehearsals and our laptops are missing that we run all of our show on and stuff. And as a band in 2022, you need your laptops. It’s like driving a car without an engine. It’s really unfortunate. Supposedly they are lost. Blame it on our crew, I guess. I don’t know how that happened; that’s never happened before. [I’m] pretty upset about it. They are brand new laptops. And I’ll see you guys at Aftershock in Sacramento on October 2nd. I’m very sorry, guys.”
Of course, typical talking heads like Mötley Crüe‘s Nikki Sixx, who just completed a very successful Stadium Tour with Def Leppard and Poison, Sebastian Bach who made an ass of himself at the Taylor Hawkins Tribute at The LA Forum just recently & Sirius XM’s Eddie Trunk have all weighed in on Falling In Reverse’s “Laptop Gate” controversy.
The irony of Nikki Sixx weighing in on this is not lost on me considering Mötley Crüe’s use of backing tracks during live concerts dating back to 1987. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention the recent criticism the band faced after their disastrous sets at 2022’s The Stadium Tour that were plagued by backing track issues not to mention a horrible amatuer soundman!
The definite MVP’s of The Stadium Tour were Poison, without a doubt! Hats off to Rikki Rockett, Bobby Dall, C.C. DeVille and Bret Michaels for reminding Rock N’ Roll fans what a Rock Show is supposed to look and sound like!!!
Jackyl frontman, Jesse James Dupree, never one to opine on such absurdity as not being able to perform a live concert because “as a band in 2022, you need your laptops. It’s like driving a car without an engine.” took to 95 WiilRock’s stage with the following comments:
“Hey Frank [Frank Mastalerz of FM Music Management] we found a couple of laptops. Do you know who they belong to? There’s a couple of laptops…we found a couple…do you know who they might belong to?” at which time Frank appears on stage to reply “Milli Vanilli?”
Jesse returns to the front of the stage and continues “I don’t know but I’ll tell you tonight. If I had a laptop tonight, we would have fuckin’ sucked ass, I’ll just tell you that! Way too complicated for me! We’re so glad to be here celebrating 30 years of WiilRock and 30 years of Jackyl! Thank you so much for letting us celebrate!”
Jesse then brings Frank back out for a toast of Jesse James America’s Outlaw Bourbon in honor of WillRock and Jackyl’s 30th Anniversary before launching into their signature song, “The Lumberjack!”
