Alia Janine (XXX starlet) talks music, milfs and baseball with LRI

Like the old Blondie tune says, Alia Janine will get you “one way or another”.  For some, ok most, it will be her enormous and distracting……..eyes.  You are looking at her eyes right?  For some it will be her ultra long legs (she’s 5’11, which in XXX terms means she’s a certifiable Amazon) or her ever-growing collection of ink.  Believe it or not,  some people even notice her for her boobs which are also eye-popping at an insane 34 F, especially considering her 24 inch waist.  I could go on listing stats as if she were on a trading card (which she is actually) but what hooked me was her ability to hold a conversation.  Other than my junior high dreamgirl Tori Welles telling us her life story we’ve never had an adult starlet stay on the phone with us for an hour or longer but that’s exactly what happened when I caught up with Alia Janine.  She holds a degree in Criminal Justice so I wasn’t totally surprised that she could be captivating or engaging but she was also open and honest, always the sign of a good interviewee.  We talked rock and roll, the adult biz, entrepreneurship and even a little baseball.  Read on…..

Legendary Rock Interviews:  Hey you.   The crickets are chirping and it is a wonderful night outside in Northern Illinois, how is L.A.?

Alia Janine:  Hi!  I am very familiar with where you are, I’m from Milwaukee originally but spent a lot of time dancing up and around the Illinois/Wisconsin border.  It’s great here, but there are no crickets chirping (laughs).  There is a Mexican karaoke place on my right and a bouncy castle in my neighbor’s yard to the left.  There are always bouncy castles in my neighborhood in my diverse neighborhood in  North Hollywood, there’s always some family having a party for some reason or another.   I do enjoy the summers up your way though!  It’s the winters I had to get away from!

LRI: I know we share a love of the Milwaukee Brewers and you even have a tattoo of the old logo on your ankle but is it true that you aren’t a big Packers fan and would in fact go and get your freak on in your dad’s Cadillac while he was all consumed with the football game?

Alia:  (laughs) Yeah, yeah, that’s true.  I’m not a Packers fan and not a big NFL fan in general and I did in fact take advantage of the Caddie in that capacity.  I had a pretty normal upbringing I suppose.  I lived with both my mom and my dad at different points when they divorced but I had a pretty good childhood, I never really wanted for anything.  My dad remarried and his new wife hated me, I was daddy’s little girl so there was a little animosity there I guess.  I was the only child and I was the only girl and I didn’t really adjust to that change very well but I really honestly felt like she hated me but on the other hand I will admit I was spoiled.

LRI:  Do you feel that you somehow reminded your stepmother of  your mother in some way and she resented that?

Alia:  No, not at all, I was the total reflection of my father in almost every way.  My mother is very Irish, red hair, green eyes, that type of thing and it’s almost disturbing how much I resemble my dad in most ways.

LRI:  When do you recall getting attention for your looks growing up?

Alia:  It’s so funny because everyone assumes that I must have been like the first girl in my class to develop but I was actually one of the last!  I didn’t go through puberty until later than other girls and then even in high school I was like a C or a D at most.  Sometime after high school my boobs literally started growing like a cup size a year or so.  I lost weight after leaving Wisconsin because I just don’t drink as much and I’m out and about more so after losing the weight my boobs look even bigger.  There’s not really any winter here so there’s no time to develop any winter fluffiness.  I have a dog and I’m always walking him and it’s amazing that since moving out here it’s almost hard to gain weight compared to when I lived in the midwest and there would be months at a time where you’d be shut in with nothing to do but eat, drink and fuck.

LRI:  So you weren’t a boy magnet in your school years, did you eventually start dating at some point in school?

Alia:  No, I actually wasn’t allowed to date because of my father.  My dad is a really big guy and could be kind of umm…a deterrent to that.  He was always telling me that it would be okay if I could find someone who was cool but it wasn’t until after I was 18 that he started being okay with the guys I’d bring home and stuff.  I think I dated a guy in middle school for like two days (laughs) and I didn’t go to prom, I went to like one dance my entire school era.

LRI:  When did the training wheels come off, when did you start utilizing dad’s caddie for public sex excursions?

Alia:  It was pretty much after I had my first orgasm that all hell broke loose.  I was like “Oh, that’s what all this is about”.  I had lost my virginity when I was a little younger but I didn’t really get it yet at that point.  I pretty much just decided to do it with a friend of mine because he and I were the only people we knew that still hadn’t done it.  A little later I came and the world was forever changed (laughs).

LRI:  What led you to want to get a criminal justice degree, were you wanting to be a Milwaukee policewoman or…?

Alia:  Actually, I was wanting to eventually become a forensic pathologist, which is basically like a doctor.  I wanted to do both sides, the medical side and the legal side of that work and was really interested in both.  My mom is a nurse and had all these books on the human body so I really was kind of teaching myself as I was helping her and I learned a lot about the body and ligaments and fibers and all of that.  I already knew quite a bit about that stuff so I decided to get my degree on the justice/law side of it first and then go back and complete the medical side of it but so many things started changing in my life.  I started going through kind of a wild phase and the authority side of the law enforcement part of learning really started to bother me.  Like we had real police training us and we were in real certifiable training programs for the state of Wisconsin but all of these people telling me what to do really started to bother me (laughs).  All I will say is that there are some times women shouldn’t be allowed to have guns.  (laughs)

LRI:  (laughs) I talked to Nikki Delano, who I know you know and she also had a background in some of those same studies.  Do you think there’s something hardwired in some of the people drawn to XXX that makes them interested in criminal justice or forensics?  Is it a control or power thing?

Alia:  Oh, without a doubt.  There’s actually quite a few people in the industry with a criminal justice background.  There are guys who are police officers or firefighters or girls like you said who either worked in those areas or have degrees or educational backgrounds in that area.  It’s totally a control thing.  It’s also an adrenaline thing.  If you’re a police officer on a beat you’re used to a certain work scenario that can be much more of a rush, the way you deal with other people is so much different from say someone who works at a factory or at a business.  The work is much more about controlling situations and can be very empowering and a lot of people who become police officers can come from backgrounds like mine, where I didn’t really feel very powerful or feel a lot of control over my own situation.  I was drawn to criminal justice because it offered that and I think that’s a reason a lot of those same personalities are drawn to the adult biz.  I mean some of your law enforcement types might have been the quarterback of the team, alpha personalities or homecoming queens but I think for the most part a lot of them weren’t and were more outcasts.  In regards to my own situation, I was very withdrawn and geeky and didn’t have a boyfriend for the most part so I found the idea of that type of work attractive and powerful.  There is definitely a personality suited towards the rush of that work just as there is a certain personality that can handle and succeed in the adult entertainment world.

LRI:  At some point during the stress of applying your degree and working in the justice field did it just occur to you that the work wasn’t paying as much as you could make dancing or modeling?

Alia:  Yeah, that was pretty much it exactly.  I was working as an armored car driver and not making much money at all so I was dancing at the same time because I needed to make ends meet.  At some points I would have 5 or 10 million dollars in the truck with me and couldn’t afford shit when it dawned on me that “Ok, I must be doing something wrong because I don’t even have money at all from this job”.  On the other hand, the dancing was going really well for me and I had all kinds of freedom which was new to me after going from living with my father to all of this almost military law enforcement stuff.  At some point the thought of going to work and basically partying was much more appealing than going to work and being shot at.

LRI:  Yeah but to be fair you’re a bigtime  success story from that field because I know just as many girls that get sucked into the dancing lifestyle and never become a name, let alone a porn star.  What got you out of Milwaukee, out of the “stripper rich” mentality and in front of cameras and in print or video?

Alia:  Yeah, it can become a grind once you get accustomed to the money and take it for granted or party too much and never go anywhere.  I partied, I did my fair share, my mom was a hippie and my dad was in Vietnam so they were of that generation that they had tried everything.  One of the things I love about them is that they taught me that you are going to go through experimenting and you can do drugs but don’t let your drugs do you (laughs).  It sounds funny or whatever but the message was clear, if you’re going to have fun, keep your eyes open and don’t become addicted or let things begin to take over your life.  At some point I realized that while what I was doing was fun, I just wasn’t getting anywhere doing it.  Time stands still when you’re having a good time and all you wanna do is just have a good time all the time.  Real life just isn’t like that and at some point you just figure that out and find out what it is you need to do.  I really don’t drink like I used to and I don’t abuse drugs, I have my medical card and I’d much prefer to smoke a joint than get strung out on any other medications or drugs.

LRI:  So you leave Wisconsin for Florida.  What prompted that, were you dating a guy or something who you wanted to move there with?

Alia:  Sort of.  I was in a long-term relationship with a guy and it just wasn’t a healthy relationship and became kind of messed up even though he himself is a really nice guy, it had just gotten bad between us.  I also had a guy friend that was for lack of a better term a way out of that relationship for me.  It seemed that way and moving seemed  like it was the only way to get away from this other guy.  I also had family in Florida which was pretty much one of the main reasons I wanted to move down there.  It’s also a great place to dance and I was doing that and going to feature school.

LRI:  What in the batshit hell is “feature school”?

Alia:  (laughs hard).  It’s actually like feature dancing training school.  It’s for girls who want to become showgirls or touring feature artists.  It’s actually kind of important because it’s a different job than just being a regular “house” girl at a club.  You’re basically learning to own and operate your own business.  There’s the whole matter of costuming and the art of dance and touring and stage sets.  I always, even as a little girl, wanted to be a Vegas showgirl dancer but unfortunately by the time I got it into my head to do it I was a little too old for it so I figured “Okay, I’ll be a feature dancer” (laughs).

LRI:  You started working with “Score” magazine on print work then?

Alia:  Yeah, I knew that if I were to get some print work in magazines it would really help with my feature dancing and touring so I started shooting with Score and that was my first experience with that.

LRI:  So you had no inhibitions as far as going from the stage to porn?

Alia:  Well, at first I was a little unsure.  I was doing some photo shoots and a few solo scenes and then they wanted to actually shoot a sex scene and I was like “Uh, I don’t really wanna do porn but then I thought about it and the guy was really cute so I was like, ‘Okay!’ and went for it.  Then they started asking me to do this movie they were working on and they kept asking me and asking me and I just thought about it.  I mean, I realized I was getting into porn to make a long story short but I really didn’t consider it that crazy in terms of a lot of the other things I’d done over the course of my life.  I also thought it would really help with my dancing and knew it wasn’t something I’d be locked in forever if I didn’t like it.  Obviously, I ended up really liking it (laughs).

LRI:  You’re of the right age to be considered a MILF and a lot of the work you get revolves around that tag.  Since you got into the business a little later and had more time to watch while you were busy dancing, did it surprise you how quickly you started racking up credits?

Alia:  There was absolutely a time where girls over 30 had no chance in XXX and then people like Lisa Ann and Julia Ann started getting well-known and it’s totally accepted.  Yeah, I am still definitely one of the odd ones because someone like Lisa Ann (Nailin Palin) had been doing porn since she was younger but I got into it at 30.  I moved out to L.A. and I’ve been doing porn for a while now but I really wasn’t even that familiar with all of it or the stars or anything.  I was shooting scenes with some of these girls and people were calling me saying “Don’t you know who Julia Ann is? She’s a superstar!!” and I was just clueless.  I didn’t really watch much porn and I just did it on a whim after 30 so I’m a little out of the ordinary in that regard.

LRI:  So you transplant to LaLa Land from Florida and you’re even further away from Milwaukee?  Are you enjoying it for the most part?

Alia:  Totally.  I love L.A. and I love the weather and I just feel like I fit in a little better with the people out here.  I realize it’s a big city and an entertainment city so there’s going to be a certain amount of assholes but I like the people out here too.  The funny thing is there are a lot of midwestern people out here and there are a lot of really nice people out here that don’t fit the Hollywood stereotype.  I realized how nice people were out west when I was living in Florida.  My uncle told me right off the bat, “People move to Florida either to die or to hide from something” and I was kind of confused because I wasn’t moving out there for either reason.  I ended up really not liking it there though and while it’s a nice place to visit or vacation I really wouldn’t want to live there.  It’s like New York, I love visiting but I could never feel comfortable living there.  Hollywood is such a melting pot and there are so many midwestern people and you can spot them right off the bat.  They’ll offer you their seat at the bar or the restaurant.  They’re really nice and their accent is just a little different and I’ll look at them and be like “You’re from the midwest aren’t you??” and they’ll be like “Yeah, how did you know?”” (laughs).  I mean no disrespect towards people who transplant from the east coast because it’s just a whole different culture and attitude and there will be some native Hollywood people who DO fit that negative stereotype and will act nice to your face and then the second you turn away they’re talking shit and just not very nice.  Since I’m always traveling I’ve really noticed other midwesterners and been noticed as a midwestern girl myself.  It’s funny.

LRI:  I talk to so many girls who are in the industry and might even date musicians or whatever but they’re not rock and roll fans and are more into hip hop or whatever.  You however are very into rock and roll, have tattoos and even named your dogs Lucy and Prudence after Beatles songs which is pretty cool.  How are you liking living in the rock and roll capital of the world?  Are you taking advantage?

Alia:  Yeah!  I like all types of music, including hip hop but I have always loved rock and metal.  I love the Beatles, my mom was way into Led Zep and Pink Floyd and all of that classic rock stuff and so was my dad who loves Def Leppard and Heart and all kinds of stuff like that. My mom named me Alia Janine after reading DUNE, if you can believe that.  It’s true.  It’s my real name which is kind of crazy.  I always hated it growing up and wanted to change my name.  In like fourth or fifth grade I really got sick of people picking on me for my name but my mom absolutely loved it.  I think technically my first concert was Rush when my mom was eight months pregnant with me!  I practically lived at the Rave/Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee.  I still do when I go back home, I love the place.  I love Summerfest.  As for the whole porn star/rock star thing, that’s not really my thing.  I know a lot of people who tend to gravitate towards musicians or comedians because we do all tend to live very similar lives.  Musicians are always on tour and porn girls are too because most of them are usually out on the road dancing.  I think a lot of girls connect with those guys because of that lifestyle and the fact that they can sort of understand each other on that level.  They can relate to the concept of having fans or stalkers or people knowing everything about them because of Google or Wikipedia or whatever.  It’s really hard for porn people or even musicians to have relationships with civilians because they just don’t live the same lifestyle so they often start dating other people within the entertainment realm.   It kind of takes away some of the magic of meeting someone when they can already feel like they know you based on all of your professional information out there on the web.  You can just Google a celebrity and find out whatever you want about them before you even go out on a first date (laughs).

LRI:  Have you personally dated a few musicians or comedians?

Alia:  I’ve dated a couple of musicians, a drummer, a lead singer but I actually try to stay away from dating musicians now because I don’t like all of the drama that comes along with being their girlfriend.  I have friends and acquaintances but as far as like seriously dating them, that’s not something I try to seek out.  It’s hard for porn girls to have relationships because everyone, even the rock guys, will hold over your head the fact that you shoot scenes and perform having sex.  It’s hard for people to understand that it’s our job and our line of work, especially guys who can go out on the road and have sex with thousands of girls in any city they pull into.  They don’t understand that commitment is not natural, monogamy is not natural but it’s a choice.  If we choose to have a one on one relationship in our personal lives offscreen it’s actually serious to us.  I understand that a guy has a natural tendency to want to get his dick wet, especially a guy in a band on the road.  I know it’s a natural urge and it doesn’t mean that you don’t love me or want me  but I don’t want to have it thrown in my face or be confronted about it, I don’t want to hear about it or see it.   Sometimes with guys who have access to unlimited groupies that can be a difficult thing.  Just like I don’t think most guys want me to come home and talk about how I just did my finished working with a bunch of really hot, hung guys while they were on tour.  There’s a fine line between doing what you do and being confronted or controlled by it.   I am all for being open and honest in a relationship but like most people just don’t need to hear about the person I care about sleeping with someone else when I’m not around.   If I am around I might not mind watching it now and then (laughs).

LRI:  You’ve done some memorable scenes for sure.  You’re name often comes up in the “banging your son’s friends” clips or the “husband and wife disciplining the babysitter”  type thing (laughs).   Or even “Watching her go black”  (laughs)

Alia:  It’s so funny, most of those scenes you mentioned are really funny to shoot.  Like the “Watching Mom go Black” thing, we’re all reading through the script and some of it is so ridiculous and we’re laughing, going “This is kind of racist!!!” when in reality it actually is just downright racist.  It’s funny that there are black guys that really like that content and are willing to pay for it but it does strike us as racist even while we’re shooting it.  I will say that you really become an expert on what turns guys on and how guys think by being a feature dancer and sometimes what you find out is really surprising.  It’s really cool working for companies like Evil Angel or Kink.com because they have their own massive built-in audiences whether it’s gonzo or submissive content, you end up gaining a lot more fans in the long haul because you’re exposed to a whole new audience.  They are really good at their niche and are often imitated but never duplicated.  There’s a big difference between content that is well done, well shot and professional or cinematic versus just run of the mill “porn brand” porn where there’s not quite as much emphasis on the aesthetics.  They’re also not the kind of companies or directors that are going to use your content whether you are enjoying yourself or not.  If you’re doing something and you express that you’re not comfortable with any aspect of it a good company will say, “Okay, let’s try something else” rather than just continue rolling and release any old thing.  There are still quite a few things I have yet to do on film, some I may never do on film.  If I’m not into doing something like gangbangs or whatever in my personal life you’re probably not going to find me doing them on the internet.  I have lots of scenes out there but a lot of my scenes now are for my own personal web page which is currently a blog type site but will be back to being a full pay site in just a little while.

LRI:  Before I let you go, have you heard of the Brewers front row girl?  She’s a really hot housewife looking girl who always seems to make it on camera in the front row at Miller Park.

Alia:  No, I haven’t but now that you’ve told me I’m going to have to beat her up and take her job (laughs).  I’ve been going to Dodger Stadium living out here and I love them too but their food sucks.  I’m from Wisconsin where junk food is elevated to a gourmet status.  I was so sad when Prince Fielder left because last year we did so well and made it so far.  At least Ryan Braun is still there and we’re ahead of the Cubs.   Miller Park is awesome, it’s so amazing to come back home and go there.  I am gonna have to look for this front row girl you speak of though!
